Your First Visit
What Happens at Your First Dental Visit
Paperwork
You fill out new patient forms at the office, so plan a few extra minutes when you arrive.
A Full Set of X-Rays
They give Dr. Bailey a complete picture of your teeth, roots, and bone.
An Exam with Dr. Bailey
He checks your teeth, gums, and bite, then tells you what he found in plain English.
A Plan
If anything needs attention, you’ll hear your options before you decide.
Your cleaning happens at the next visit. Some mouths need a regular cleaning and some need a deep cleaning for gum disease, and the x-rays and exam tell Dr. Bailey which one fits yours.
Insurance + Payment
Dental Insurance, Medicaid + Payment
What Insurance Do You Accept?
Dr. Bailey’s office accepts Delta Dental as an in-network provider. If you have another dental plan, call (252) 823-5739 before your visit and we’ll explain how it works with our office. Patients without insurance are welcome and can pay for visits directly.
Do You Take Medicaid?
No. Dr. Bailey’s Tarboro office doesn’t participate in NC Medicaid, for children or adults. If you have Medicaid dental coverage, you’ll need a dentist who participates in NC Medicaid.
Do You Offer Financing?
Yes. We accept CareCredit, a health care credit card that lets you pay for larger treatment over time. You can apply online before your visit.
Can I Pay My Bill Online?
Yes. After your visit, you can pay any balance through our secure online payment page, or call (252) 823-5739 to pay by phone.
Dental Anxiety
If the Dentist Makes You Nervous
Being nervous about the dentist is common. We don’t offer nitrous oxide or sedation, so what we offer instead is time and plain talk: tell us when you call, and Dr. Bailey will explain each step before he starts. For extensive work that calls for sedation, he can refer you to a specialist who provides it.
Questions
Other Questions from New Patients
Do You See Patients from Rocky Mount?
Yes, plenty. Our office is about 20 minutes from Rocky Mount on US-64 East, and patients from Nash County make the drive for the same reasons Tarboro families do. Morning appointments work well if you’re coming over before work. We’re in network with Delta Dental, we accept CareCredit, and we are not an NC Medicaid provider.
Can I Fill Out Forms Online?
Not yet. New patient forms are filled out at the office on the day of your first visit, which is why it helps to arrive a few minutes early.
Do You See Kids?
Yes, starting at age 1. Very young children who need extensive treatment are referred to a pediatric dentist, and everyone else in the family can be seen right here.
